I am thinking about getting a new processor. I'm running a intel core 2 duo, 1.8s.. 7900 gs videocard.  So do you think it's my video card stopping me from playing the game on high graphics or the processor? If so which vard should I get and if I can get a new processor how and what?

Before I built my new rig, I ran a 8800gts in a 3800+ dual core amd. It ran great.

But you may want to see what your fsb is on that cpu. If its somewhat slow a highend graphics card may be bottlenecked, like a 8800gtx for example.

You may also want to consider your mobo, ram, etc. Doing a cpu upgrade might actually be a waste if the mobo cant take advantage of it. It all comes around to whether or not the cpu/ram/video are talking to each other at optimal speeds, if not its unevenly yoked and will actually be worse. There is a point where the other components will simply not be able to keep up with the other components, and a new rig is needed completely.

I would guess the 7900 is keeping you from hitting the maximum resolutions although I don't know what your other specs are.  I have CoD4 maxed out and my dual core is only a bit faster then yours (2.13 gig 6400) but I have the 8800GTX with 2 gigs of RAM also.   These beasts will keep going down in price and the new 8800 GT looks like the best bet if you got some cash saved up.   It's fun stuff no matter the rig thougth!

What C2D are you running, is it an entry level? If that's the case it sounds like your video card is more powerful than your CPU, like what outlaw mentioned, if you are seeing any performance hits it's because your CPU is slowing you down. A 7900 shouldn't lag you out unless you are trying to run next-gen graphics. About the only good thing with Intel is that they've used the same socket type for like ever and you would probably just need a BIOS update depending on the CPU you want to run. Also, before you get a processor, double check to make sure it is compatible with the chipset on the motherboard first. I see alot of guys who buy incompatible mobos or vica versa cause they don't realize that even though it's the same socket, intel changes the chipset virtually on every gen of cpu.
