That's the site you want if you want to sign up for the beta of PotBS. Do note we literally just 2 days ago had the entire game switch servers as SOE (Sony) picked up the pub rights and whatnot. That means you'll also need a station ID (free from Sony of course), unless you play Star Wars Galaxies (or any of the other SOE games.EQ, EQ-II, Matrix Online, etc..)..

Is for PoTC:Online.. Muche easier to get into IMO, though their in the middle of an upgrade (closed atm) till well, a week or so maybe? I was on the list since Dead Man's Chest came out. Once I got in (early June/July it went beta?) I signed up son up and he was in within 2 days, rofl.. PotBS might be the same at this point as well (faster application acceptance), not sure at this point..
Can't really say much about them, what with the NDA's and all.. But I will say this (canned generic phrase) There are things I seriously love about EACH game, and things I absolutely HATE about both. Should the two ever mix and become one (not likely), you would truly have the BEST pirate game ever. Instead, when they both come out, it'll be a real tough choice I think which I would pay to play, knowing that each offers something valuable that the other does not provide. Arrrrggghhhhhhhhh

Alert | Lol, see I was kind of HAPPY about that..
I played the Matrix Beta. Stopped when it was public. Now that it's under SoE as well, I can pay the $21 instead of the $15 and I can have access to ALL of their games (SWG which I play now), instead of having to pay at least $30 bones a month for SWG and PotBC.. Which will make me more likely to play that than PotC..
Though my son has a Toon Disney account, so if Disney offers a similar plan when PotC comes out, that might be a possibility on his account..
What I did find ironic was from what I saw, SoE already HAS an MMORPG Pirate game... Seems a little controversial having two of the same genre.. Be like having a Star Trek MMO (WHY isn't there one, btw with all the Trekkies out there) running against the SWG crowd.. Anywho.... Dare I ask why you despise SoE? :)

Because of how they killed SWG. I loved that game. (too much) But maybe now that they've ruined a few games, they've learned something. | |

Alert | The infamous Combat Upgrade / NGE?? lol.. Yea, I was really ticked off about that when it happened.. I had a toon (my main at the time) who dabbled in scouting, medical, marksman, Bounty Hunting, and rifleman. I was the ultimate soldier could solo many things at lvl 24! Not to mention the slew of cool weapons I could weild.. And then along comes the CU/NGE.. Now all of a sudden, I am stuck (literally) with the noob pistol while I have an arsonel of awesome weapons I can't touch till lvl 90. Alert | | I was really looking forward to PotBS.... but now a recent dealing with SOE as left me pretty sour. I played Vanguard for a while and had a 6 month subscribtion to it. Well I forgot to cancell it and it auto renewed a few days ago. I didn't realise it until I saw that I had overdrafted the account I use for online purchases. I have been trying to get a refund as I have not played the game for a couple of month didn't intend to renew but they keep giving me the whole EULA terms garbage. If I can't get them to work with me then I probably wont be ever dealing with those jokers ever again. | | | |
