Battlefield 2

Developer: Digital Illusions CE (DICE)
Publisher: EA

Release Date: June 21, 2005

Widescreen Support: Command line edt; FOV not correct

Edit the Battlefield 2 shortcut, and set the resolution to desired specs. For example, the command line would look like this for a Dell 2005FPW:

"C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

The resolution will work, but the FOV will not be correct, so some information at the top and bottom of the view will be lost.

I've been running mine with some standard settings in the menu: 1280 x 960 @ 75, and I can see everything I could on a reg 4:3 screen, but its stretched (ie. the minimap is ovular instead of circular. Will running with these settings fix that?

Just put them in cause I've been running at 1280x1024 default for a while and it DOES look different. It actually looks a bit like instead of being stretched horizontally it's stretched virtically a tad .. but you can't notice and a whole lot better than what it was being stretch horizontally.

Can this be done with a .con file also? Seems like maybe that would let the settings stick if launched through xfire.

It'll change the FOV slightly, but not much more so.  EA announced long ago they will NOT ever (least on bf2/2142) support widescreen monitors, as "It gives those WITHOUT them un unfair advantage", so don't expect it to look "like it should", but yes, it should be better than not using the cmd..  I have a hacked up profile somewhere (con file) that does the same thing, I'll see if I can dig it up.
