It's alright. I bought it when it was released because I liked the graphics when I saw the review on Electric Playground on tv and they said it was number one game for consoles.. number one console games aren't released very often on PC as well so I decided to get it. The graphics are alright, I guess. Kind of a blend between Splinter Cell Chaos Theory's 3.0 shader model and Doom 3's pixel mapping and lighting effects. Nothing ground breaking, certainly nothing I havent seen before - they try to take it to the next level with the lighting and flashing which (I believe) they did a good job at, and the water effects are pretty cool and the sound of the game is just unbelievable.
The story line is kinda weird and not really my thing, and my wife totally doesn't understand what's going on and I prefer not to expliain everything to her multiple times and her not "get it." That being said, I really don't know why it's the number one game except for originality.. then again, the last "original" game like this was LucasArts' Grim Fandango but Bioshock give you an element of an FPS.
I don't know how much the game is now, but I definately wouldn't pay more than $29.99 for it. If it's that or below and you got the cash to try something new, I absolutely recommend this game ... IF, you have the time to put into it. |
